William Lee Balsley, 65, of Rockton died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at home after a year-long illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born June 24, 1943, in Beloit, Wis., the son of William Guy and Alice (McLee) Balsley. Lifelong resident of Rockton. Married Donna Wiese on June 22, 1968, in Des Plaines. Employed as an attorney by Balsley and Dahlberg LLP for more than 30 years. Member of Old Stone United Church of Christ. Longtime member of Rockton Rotary, serving as president from 1978 to 1979; former attorney for Rockton School District and Rockton Sanitary District. He finished two Chicago marathons and was an avid White Sox fan. Graduated from Hononegah High School in 1961 and received his undergraduate and law degrees from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife, Donna Balsley of Rockton; daughters, Catherine Christensen of Madison, Wis., Karen (David) Griner of Birmingham, Ala.; mother, Alice Balsley of Rockton; granddaughter, Allison Griner of Birmingham; brother, Steve (Delores) Balsley of Roscoe; brother, John (Denise) Balsley of Roscoe; brother, Jim (Judy) Balsley of South Beloit; cousin, Barbara Battaglini of Oregon; nine nephews and four nieces; several great-nephews and great-nieces; and several other cousins. Predeceased by father, William Guy Balsley; and sister, Ann Balsley. \r\r\n\r\r\n Service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, in Old Stone United Church of Christ, with Pastor Dan Herman officiating. Burial in Rockton Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N.
