Shirley Cordelia Clark, Rockton, Illinois died on March 26, 2011 at Provena Cor Mariae Center. \r\r\n\r\r\n Shirley was born on October 28, 1936 in Greenfield, Iowa the daughter of John Alfred and Grace Fern (Evans) Gibson. She was a graduate of the Greenfield Public School system and took extended courses at Rock Valley College, Rockford, Illinois. After graduating in 1954, she took courses at Omaha Commercial Extension College before starting her first job as Secretary to the Subrogation Supervisor of Iowa Farm Mutual Insurance Company in Des Moines, Iowa. In June of 1956 she married Francis Lee Tranbarger and of the union one son, Scott Gibson Tranbarger, was born January 25, 1969 in Madison, Wisconsin. Shirley was employed by the State of Wisconsin in the Wildlife Management and Research Division from 1956 to 1959. The family moved to Beloit, Wisconsin and she and her husband divorced in 1961. She was employed by Drs. Clark, Matthews, Schwaegler, and Waglie (later became Medical Associates) as Office Manager until 1967, when she joined Warner Electric Brake and Clutch Co. until 1974 as Personnel Assistant. She married Dr. Daniel M. Clark in 1976. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Beloit and later the Old Stone United Congregational Church of Christ in Rockton, Illinois. She loved music having been a member of the “Treble Clefettes” in Beloit, and singing in the choirs of all the churches in which she was a member. She played the pipe organ in her early years at the Greenfield Methodist Church and the Monona Grove Methodist Church in Madison, Wisconsin. \r\r\n\r\r\n She is survived by her son, Scott (Debbie) Tranbarger of Nekoosa, Wisconsin; step children Daniel M. (Linda) Clark III, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Susan Reedy, Scottsdale, Arizona, Mary Lucinda Clark, Chandler, Arizona , Charles M. (Naomi) Clark, Westmont, Illinois, Dorothy Lee (Ferris) Chamberlin, St. Paul, Minnesota; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren; sister- in- law Harriet Clark Cash, Hialeah, Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband and love of her life Daniel M. Clark II, her parents, sisters Irene Wolford Watson, Jean Shivvers and Phyllis Miller Nelson, nieces Nancy Lee Shivvers and Terri Lea Sweet. \r\r\n\r\r\n Graveside ceremonies will be held at a later date at the South Hill Cemetery in Vandalia, Illinois where her cremains will be placed beside those of her husband Daniel. Shirley had a very wonderful full life. She and her husband traveled to all the states in the United States, all the provinces of Canada, South and Central America as well as many states of Mexico. She and her husband wintered on South Padre Island, Texas for 30 years. Shirley was especially fond of cruises. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorials may be made to the Old Stone United Congregational Church 101 East Union St. Rockton, IL 61072 or the Mayo Foundation, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN in her name.
