Ruth E. Bennett, 88 of Shirland, Illinois died at 5:35 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in Wesley Willows after a lengthy illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n She was born July 24, 1924 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Georgia (Taylor) Kissick. She graduated from Pecatonica High School. Ruth married Robert F. Bennett in Shirland, Illinois on February 24, 1945. She and Bob farmed for over 50 years in Shirland Township, retiring in 1990. Ruth then moved to Wesley Willows in 2007. She was a member of Shirland United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women of Shirland, lifetime member of Wesley Willow Auxiliary and Rockton Women’s Club. She was an active supporter of 4H; she and Bob loved to go dancing. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include sister Patty Neely, Pecatonica, Illinois; sister-in-laws Jean Bennett and Paula Bennett both of Shirland, Illinois; God children Barbara Foley, Bonnie Gundry, Charlie Bennett, Kathy Knudson, Judy Wolf and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She preceded in death by her parents and husband. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013 in McCorkle Funeral Home 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, Illinois with Chaplin Bruce Main of Wesley Willows officiating. Burial will be in Shirland Township Cemetery.
