Obituary for Charlene L. Ward

Charlene L. Ward, 91, of Rockton, IL died at 9:50 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in her home.

She was born July 15, 1926 in Pocahontas, Arkansas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Maggie (Dean) Haynes. Charlene married J. L. Ward in Pocahontas, Arkansas on March 4, 1946. She worked as a packer for Testers for 18 years, then worked as a bookkeeper for Ward Floor and Janitor in Rockford, IL. She attended Old Stone Church in Rockton, IL.

Survivors include daughter Brenda (Steve) Hitzke; granddaughter Melissa (Chris); numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, husband, 10 ten brothers and sisters.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL with Pastor Dan Herman officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of ceremony.
