Obituary for Leona Marie Lee

Leona Marie (nee Corcran) Lee, 87, Lake Summerset, IL died at 5:10 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 in Mercy Health Hospital, Rockford, IL.

Born August 4, 1930 in Gladbrook, IA the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilber and Cora (Fowler) Corcran. Lived 30 years in Lake Summerset coming here from Palatine, IL. Graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls, IA and from Dysart High School. She married Gordon Francis Lee in Waterloo, IA on June 4, 1960. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Lake Louise Elementary in Palatine for many years, retiring in 1985. Veteran of US Women’s Army Corps serving in Japan during peace time.

Survivors include her sons Michael Gordon (Vicki) Lee, Spring Grove, IL and Timothy (Janet Rosen) Lee, Great Barrington, MA; granddaughters Caitlyn, Megan, Amanda, Alison and Ruthanne Lee; brother Wilber Corcran, Jr., Vinton, IA; sister Bonnie Thompson, Eugene, OR; sister-in-law Jean Corcran, Salem, OR and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five brothers and three sisters.

Celebration of Life will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2017. Cremation rites will be accorded. Final resting place will be in Dysart Cemetery, Dysart, IA.
