Melvin Leroy Klinger, 77, of Rockford, Illinois died at 2:07 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2014 in his own home surrounded by his family. \r\r\n\r\r\n He was born September 3, 1936 in Stephenson County, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Helen (Guth) Klinger. Melvin was employed as a security guard by J.L. Clark in Rockford, Illinois for 21 years. \r\r\n\r\r\n His survivors include: daughters, Donna Klinger Wellman of Pecatonica, Darlene Klinger Seger of Rockford, Joyce (Bert) Tirado of Elkhart, IN; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Sidney (Janet) Klinger of Pecatonica, Wayne Klinger of Winnebago, and Neil (Cindy) Klinger of Pecatonica; sister, Sandra Klinger of Rockford; brother, Lynn Klinger of Rockford; three cousins, Donna Schopf, Marilyn Zimmerman and June Kearns and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Julie and brother Jerry. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in McCorkle Funeral Home – Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington St, Pecatonica, with Pastor Katie Voigt of Pecatonica United Methodist Church officiating. His burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until time of funeral Tuesday.
