Roscoe, Illinois
Together we celebrate the life of Marcia G. Hanson. Born in Chicago, IL on May 7, 1952, she was known by many as "Marcy." She was a beacon of resilience and dedication, and known for her healthy dose of stubbornness. Marcy leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by her loved ones and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She passed away on February 2nd, 2024, with her husband, son, and daughter by her side, finally free of the cancer she bravely fought four times.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin and lived as a proud Badger Alum spending many Saturdays cheering on their football team. During her time at UW, she became an Alpha Phi and continued to socialize with members of the Alpha Phi Alum throughout the years.
Marcy’s happiest moments were spent with her beloved family. Married to Ronald Hanson on September 12, 1981, they built a life full of love and joy in Roscoe, Illinois. She was a loving mother to Matt (Rachel) Hanson and Hillary (Jon) King. She found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren - Daxton, Norelle, Jacklyn, and Brayden. Her favorite days were those spent baking and playing board games with them. She put her Early Childhood Education degree to use and loved teaching the grandkids any way she could. She is also survived by her brother, Bill (Trish) Gabrys. Marcy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Jeanne Gabrys.
She had many wonderful years at McDonald's, beginning as a crew member, she worked her way through management, but found her role as a Customer Relations Representative the most rewarding. During her time there she met some of the best and closest friends anyone could ask for.
We invite you to celebrate Marcy’s life by sharing memories, stories, and photos on her memorial page. Marcy had requested we honor her through a Celebration of Life, which will take place this coming June. She loved watching her grandkids grow, in lieu of flowers we would appreciate live plants they can care for and remember her by as they continue to grow. Marcy also loved to support others if you would like to donate to your favorite charity in her honor.
