Laverne M. Kocher, 91, Roscoe, Illinois died at 4:27 p.m., Sunday, September 27, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born September 15, 1918 in Myrtle, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Bessie (Rowe) Pals. Married Walter A Peterson, he died in 1953. She then married Keith Kocher in 1957, he died in 1992. She was employed as a nurse’s aide and as a cashier at Lane’s Self Service in Rockton. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and visiting with friends and family. Her travels to Michigan and Wisconsin were some of her fondest memories. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and nurses at Fair Oaks for their compassionate and tender care given to Laverne. She graduated from Leaf River High School. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include daughter Juanita (James) Kehoe, Roscoe, Illinois; granddaughter Betsey Weller, Rockford, Illinois; daughters Jeannine (James) Bramwell, Colorado Springs, Colorado and Mary Kauhi, Hawaii; \r\r\n\r\r\n son James Kocher, Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter-in-law Geraldine Kocher, Tennessee; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Arlene Kocher, Rockton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Niki Weller, son Terry Kocher, two sisters and one brother. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2009 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Reverend Dan Herman, pastor of Old Stone United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery, 600 West Street, Rockton, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockton EMS and Ambulance 201 N Blackhawk, Rockton, IL 61072.
