James L. “Jim” Stewart, 63, Rockton, Illinois died peacefully at 4:10 a.m., Sunday, November 15, 2009 at home. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born April 1, 1946 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer and Catherine (Phelan) Stewart. Married the former Mary Ann Harper in South Beloit, Illinois on August 20, 1966. Jim was a self employed contractor for several years in Rockton, Illinois. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, spending time with family and friends and watching his grandchildren grow. Graduated from Hononegah High School, Class of 1964. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt special thank you to Gail and “Big Jim” for their wonderful support and dedication and to Swedish Home Health Care nurses and staff for their tender loving care given to Jim. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include: wife, Mary Ann Stewart, son, Tim (Chris) Stewart both of Rockton, Illinois; son Dan (Bobbi) Stewart, Roscoe, Illinois; daughter Vanessa (Matthew) Bailey, Janesville, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Olivia, Alayna, J. D. and Davey; sister Shirley Alongi, Beloit, Wisconsin; brother Jack (Sharyl) Stewart, Rockton, Illinois; sister Judy (Jim) Stringham, Rockford, Illinois; brother Steve (Carmen) Stewart, Bend, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial ceremonies will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, November 21, 2009 in McCorkle Funeral Home 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, IL with Fr. Jerome Koutnik, pastor of St. Peter Catholic Church, South Beloit, Illinois officiating. Cremation Rites to be accorded. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to time of ceremony on Saturday. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorials may be given to the Jim Stewart Memorial Fund.
