Eugene Maurice “Red” Hitchcock, 82 of Pecatonica, Illinois died at 4:40 am, Saturday, January 17, 2015 in Stephenson Nursing Home after a long illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n He was born October 30, 1932, the son of Maurice and Mae (Meiers) Hitchcock. Graduated from Pecatonica High School, Class of 1950. He married the former Florence Eickman in Pecatonica, Illinois on June 7, 1952. Red farmed until he was forced to retire because of ill health. \r\r\n\r\r\n Member of First Congregational Church, past Master and 50 year member of A. W. Rawson Masonic Lodge AF and AM #302, past Worthy Patron and 50 year member of Eastern Star, member of Freeport Scottish Rite Bodies and served many years on the Winnebago County Fair Board. Enjoyed many trips with Pecatonica Old Car Buffs with his convertible. \r\r\n\r\r\n The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and aides in the Birchwood Wing and Heartland Hospice for the kind, compassionate care given to Red. Survivors include: wife, Florence; son, Maurice; brother, Harold “Whitey” (Carol) Hitchcock and one niece and two nephews. \r\r\n\r\r\n A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 24, 2015 in McCorkle Funeral Home – Pecatonica Chapel 203 W. 5\r\r\n\r\r\nth\r\r\n\r\r\n St. Pecatonica, Illinois with Pastor Duane Hoffman of First Congregational Church officiating. Cremation Rites to be accorded with final resting place to be Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of memorial ceremony Saturday.
