Our hearts were suddenly saddened when Doris Marie Boomer, 95, Pecatonica, Illinois, died at 1:34 a.m., Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.\r\r\n\r\r\n Born May 8, 1920 in Pecatonica Township, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Ora (Anderson) Rapean. Graduated from Pecatonica High School, Class of 1937 and then Brown’s Business College. Married Edward Fritz Boomer in Clinton, Missouri on July 1, 1942. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Ed Boomer General Contractor. She was also employed by Ipsen and Dobler Realty, retiring in 1991. Member of First Congregational Church, Pecatonica and Order of the Eastern Star St. Elmo Chapter#460. She enjoyed helping with 4-H, Brownies and Cub Scouts. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include daughter, Janet Smith, Kankakee, Illinois; son, Gene Boomer, Pecatonica, Illinois; daughter, Lori (Howard) Finley, Pecatonica, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Barb Boomer, Elburn, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard Boomer,son-in-law Roger Smith, one granddaughter Kyle Finley, one great granddaughter Izabella Brown and brother Chester Rapean.\r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, 2016 in First Congregational Church, 633 Reed, Pecatonica, Illinois with Pastor Duane Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Burial will be in Pecatonica Cemetery. McCorkle Funeral Home-Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, Illinois assisted the family.\r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial will be established.
