Clarence A. Stockwell age 85, died 1:55 p.m., June 17, 2009 at his son’s home in Macomb, Illinois after a lengthy illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n He was born October 6,1923 in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Atlee and Anna M. ( Burke) Stockwell. Married to Doris McMillan in Rockton, Illinois on October 28 1950. He was employed as a butcher by Century Super Market in South Beloit for many years and later by the city of South Beloit, retiring in 1974. Veteran of WW II serving in the U S Navy as a Seaman First Class. Member of Faith Lutheran Church of South Beloit. He was a volunteer fireman for South Beloit for many years, member of Roscoe Legion and Walter Graham American Legion Post #332, Rockton, Illinois for 60 years. Attended and graduated from Belvidere High School. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include son William ( Sandy) Stockwell, Macomb, Illinois; daughter Linda Michaels, Indianapolis, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and sister Betty Vaughan, Beloit, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters. \r\r\n\r\r\n Graveside ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Rockton Township Cemetery 600 West Street Rockton, Illinois with Reverend David Meding, of Central Christian Church officiating. Visitation will held from 6:00 to 8:00pm Monday, June 22 at McCorkle Funeral Home 767 Blackhawk Blvd. Rockton , Illinois.
