Charles H. “Chuck” Schellenberger, 72, Roscoe, Illinois, died at 3:33 a.m., Monday, January 11, 2010 at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease (ALS). \r\r\n\r\r\n Born February 16, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Casto and Caroline (Baer) Schellenberger. Married the former Judith A. Wiles in San Francisco, California on September 16, 1970. He was employed as an accountant by Outboard Marine Corp from 1965, retiring in 1994. Chuck was honorably discharged from the United Stated Army where he served from 1959-1961. Member of Rockton United Methodist Church, where he was treasurer for many years and Northern Illinois Gun Club. He enjoyed varmint hunting. He was a good husband and father and enjoyed spending time with friends. Graduated from Woodruff High School, Class of 1955 and Bradley University in 1959. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife Judith Schellenberger, Roscoe, Illinois and daughters Caroline (Don) Wallin, Machesney Park, Illinois and Melissa (Finance David Penwarden) Rockford, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, 2010 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Reverend Thomas Kingery, Rockton United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.
