Arthur D. Voss, 71, Shirland, Illinois, died at 9:13 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2014 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.\r\r\n\r\r\n Born January 28, 1943 in Fairview, Montana, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd and Kathryn (Green) Voss. Married the former Mary A. Holeton in Shirland, Illinois on January 7, 1961. He was employed as a mechanic at Warner Lambert, retiring in 2002. Attended Cornerstone Church of God in Beloit, Wisconsin. He was a former volunteer fireman and EMT for Shirland Fire Dept., member of Gold Wing Motorcycle Club, Northerners Motorcycle Group, he and Mary enjoyed being host and hostess at Rock Cut State Park for six years, motorcycling, traveling with friends all over the United States, wood carving, canoeing and reading mostly of religion. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Graduated from Shirland Grade School and Hononegah High School, Class of 1961.\r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include his wife, Mary Voss, Shirland, Illinois; sons, Randy Voss and Floyd H. (Lorie Maavich-)Voss, both of Rockton, Illinois; daughters, Rhonda (Terry) Polhill, Rockford, Illinois and Lori (Bryant) Bauling, South Beloit, Illinois; son, Art Voss, Chandler, Arizona; daughter, Teana (Mark) Bauling, Rockton, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Virgene McVay, Rockton, Illinois, Karen (Larry) Judd, Durand, Illinois, Lorna (Paul) Engwall, Lyndon, Illinois, Irene Lange, Georgetown, Texas and Brenda (Garrett) Sullivan, Rockton, Illinois; brother, Don (Becky) Voss, San Marcos, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter, Savanha, brothers-in-laws Bob McVay and Rick Lange.\r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Cornerstone Church of God, 322 Olympian Blvd, Beloit, Wisconsin. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until time of funeral Saturday. McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois assisted the family.\r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial will be established.
