Adolph “Bernie” Bernard, 83, Lake Summerset, Illinois died at 12:38 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2014 in his home after a lengthy illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born November 1, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the son on Mr. and Mrs. Adolph and Mabel (Stevens) Bernard. Lived 14 years in Lake Summerset, coming here from Country Club Hills, Illinois. Married the former Ginny Sorrentino in Chicago, Illinois on June 20, 1959. He was employed as a semi-truck driver for OK Trucking for 30 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand, Illinois. He enjoyed camping and was an avid musky fisherman. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife, Ginny Bernard; granddaughter, who was raised like a daughter, Amber Bernard; sons, James (financé Terri Irene) Bernard, David Bernard and Carl (Kym) Bernard; daughter, Bonnie Bernard; grandchildren, Jeffery, Carl Jr., Ashley, Lauren, Ryan, Amber and Sarah; sister, Mildred Tessman; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Sharon Sorrentino and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Beth Ann. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Deacon Dick Mulcahey officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Final resting place will be St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 4. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial has been established to the family.
