Ruth M. Ekiss Obituary (1917 - 2019)

Ruth M. Ekiss, 101, of Rockford, IL died at 12:03 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019 at Wesley Willows. Born October 4, 1917 in Sullivan, IL the daughter for Mr. and Mrs. Ernest and Merle (Meyers) Martin. Attended Illinois Teacher College and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelors in Education. Ruth married Kenneth C. Ekiss in Bethany, IL on June 21, 1936. She was a teacher at Geneva Public Schools and was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church. Survivors include daughters Jean Caruthers and Linda (Ray) Lemar; two grandchildren Eric (Lisa Nguyen) Lemar and Ryan (Erica Vess) Lemar and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Margerie and brother Donald. Private Ceremonies to be held. Final Resting Place will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. Cremation Rites to be Accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home- Rockton Chapel assisted the family. A memorial has been established to Roscoe United Methodist Church.
