Ruth L. Campbell Obituary (1931 - 2011)

Ruth L. Campbell, 79, Durand, Illinois died at 6:10 p.m., Sunday, April 10, 2011 in Medina Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. Born November 17, 1931 in Stephenson County, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Pearl (Crouse) Campbell. Ruth worked for Ted Meissen on his farm for many years, then moved to Rockford and after graduating from Rockford Nursing School, she was employed by Rockford Memorial Hospital as a LPN until her retirement in 1994. Ruth was also a beautician, she cared for her mother, brother, family and neighbors for many years. Member of Durand American Legion Auxiliary. Graduated from Orangeville High School, Class of 1950 and Rockford Nursing School. She had been a resident of Medina since October 2010. She was known for her beautiful tatting, which she learned from her mother. She gave freely of her time and talent to family and friends in need. Ruth never married or had children of her own, but was a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Mable and Dick Louthain, Rockford, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-laws Ruetta Campbell, Freeport, Illinois and Delores Campbell, Rock Grove, Illinois and friend and neighbor, Dale Dominick, Durand, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frances, Harry, Leotis and Clarence (Melvin) and sister Lona Gravenstein. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 16, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois with nephew, Don Gross, Mazomanie, Wisconsin, officiating. Burial in Silent Hill Cemetery, McConnell, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Durand American Legion Auxiliary, 12217 Holverson Road, Durand, IL 61024
