Roberta E. Bauer Obituary (1923 - 2010)

Roberta E. "Bobbie" Bauer, 87, Lake Summerset, Illinois, died at 3:49 p.m., Wednesday, June 2, 2010 in Monroe Clinic Hospital, Monroe, Wisconsin after a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 2, 1923 in Cornishville, Kentucky, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Ethel (Matherly) Gulley. Graduated from Cornishville High School. Married to Kenneth E. Bauer in Eagle Lake, Texas on July 22, 1945. Bobbie worked as a licensed cosmetologist for a number of years. Member of Durand United Methodist Church from 1972. She also helped with many church decorations. Lake Summerset Red Hat Ladies; Past president of the Durand Women's Club; Durand American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include husband Kenneth Bauer of Lake Summerset, IL; daughter Rita (James) Bailey of Warrenton, Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, two sisters and a brother. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday June 6, 2010 in the Durand United Methodist Church with Rev. Henry Whang officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Eagle Lake, Texas. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Sunday in the Durand United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. McCorkle Funeral Home assisted the family.
