Roberta 'Bert' Mason Obituary (1927 - 2016)

Roberta (Bert) Mason, 89, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away June 3, 2016 at Hope Hospice House in Ft. Myers, FL. Born April 10, 1927 in Freeport, IL, she was the youngest daughter of Florence (Coomber) Swartz and Carl H Swartz. She married the love of her life, Richard F. Mason on December 10, 1946. Roberta worked as a buyer for children’s apparel. Working at Chester’s Department Store in Beloit, Wisconsin and then buying for five TJ Chapman stores in Milwaukee. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends. She enjoyed her many years as a resident at Seven Lakes Condominium complex in Ft. Myers; concerts and shopping. Roberta is survived by her daughters Vicki King and Sharon “Sherry” Monahan (Patrick “Pat”) Rockton. Grandchildren: Mark (Wendy) Rotblat; Kate Rotblat Whitacre (Brett); James (Jennifer) Carratt, Richard (Linda) Carratt; Donald Carratt; Robert McLain (Mariam); Ryan (Elizabeth “Liz”) Monahan; Sean Monahan and fifteen great grandchildren; Niece, Annie (Michael) Swartz Miller. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Carl Swartz; sister, Ada-Katherine Kinley; daughter, Cynthia Rotblat (Dr. Norman); great grandson, Robert McLain, Jr.; nephew, Peter Swartz. A family celebration of life will take place in July. McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL is assisting the family.
