Robert 'Bob' S. Rhyner Obituary (1931 - 2016)

Robert S. “Bob” Rhyner, 84, Durand, IL, died at 7:45 a.m., Monday, July 4, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family. Born September 16, 1931 in Janesville, WI, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel and Mabel (Zimmerli) Rhyner. Graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1950. Married the former Carolyn J. Dahlgren in Shirland, IL on April 18, 1953. Bob farmed his entire life. He was a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed going to his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Bob’s favorite pastime was spending time with his family at home and having family gatherings. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Heartland Hospice team of Rod, Gordon, Becky, Briana and Emily and Erica from Wood’s Crossing for all their tender loving care given to Bob. Survivors include wife, Carolyn Rhyner, Durand, IL; daughters, Jamie (Merle) Horstmeier and Linda (Dennis) Meinert , both of Davis, IL; son, Randy (Betty) Rhyner; daughter, Joni (Francis) Vormezeele, both of Durand, IL; grandchildren, Matthew Horstmeier, Erica (Dave) Neumann, Jonathan (Carrie) Meinert, Andrew (Kelsey) Meinert, Brandon Rhyner, Bryan (Allison) Rhyner, Emily (Eric) Simmer, Mark Vormezeele and Erin Vormezeele; four great grandchildren, Brooke Neumann and Nolan, Mason and Cohen Meinert; brother, William Rhyner, Durand, IL; sister, Bonita Kiser, Orfordville, WI and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Charlotte Selden. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL with Chaplin Rodney Wedel of Heartland Hospice officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, July 7. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Durand, IL. A memorial will be established.
