Michael W. Johnson, 92, Durand, Illinois died at 7:31 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Medina Manor. Born November 23, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Collette Johnson. He married the former Esther Kowalski in Chicago, Illinois on July 15, 1950. He was employed as a wood finisher in Chicago. Veteran of WW II serving in the US Army. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Durand. Survivors include his wife, Esther Johnson, Durand, Illinois; daughter Sandra Johnson, Arizona; grandchildren Tammy (Garret) Sonntag and Patrick Stinespring and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson Sean Stinespring. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 23, 2012 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 602 West Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Msgr Eric Barr officiating. Burial will be in Maryhill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, Illinois at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 23. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 22. A scripture service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
