Lucille A. 'Mema' Rowland Obituary (1914 - 2012)

Lucille A. " Mema" Rowland, 98, of Pecatonica, IL died at 3:50 pm Thursday September 13, 2012 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. She was born March 6, 1914 in Pecatonica, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Alma (Johnson) Kauffman. Lucille graduated from Pecatonica High School and Freeport School of Nursing. She married Clarence A. Rowland on January 18, 1934 in Pecatonica, IL. She was employed as a nurse at the Deaconist Hospital in Freeport, IL and Rockford Memorial Hospital for many years retiring in 1986. Member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church and former member of Ladies Lion Club and the Rebekas. Survivors include daughter Barbara Harris of Pecatonica; 4 grandchildren Bruce (Michelle) Harris, Denise (Don) Beck all of Pecatonica, IL, Jacqueline Harris of Durand, IL, Angela (Larry) Stites of Dakota, IL;; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; Sister in law Ruby Van Brocklin of Leaf River, IL; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, daughter Linda, Sisters Cecil Larson and Berniece Anderson; brothers Victor and Elmer Kauffman. Funeral ceremonies to be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday September 18, 2012 in Countryman Funeral Home 529 Washington St. Pecatonica, IL with Pastor Amy Poust of Pecatonica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery in Pecatonica, IL. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 am until time of ceremony on Tuesday.
