Loyd A. Daniels Obituary (1923 - 2016)

Loyd A. Daniels, 93, Durand, IL, died at 1:30 a.m., Thursday, June 02, 2016 in Bickford Assisted Living after a lengthy illness. Born January 24, 1923 in Harvard, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Marcia (Noble) Daniels. Lived 63 years on his farm in rural Durand, coming here from Poplar Grove. Married the former Helen Hagerty in St. Mary Catholic Church, Durand, IL on October 8, 1949. Loyd farmed his entire life. Veteran of WW II, serving in the US Army. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Durand, IL, the Winnebago County Farm Bureau and a 70 year member of Durand American Legion Gold Star Post #676. Graduated from Hononegah High School, Class of 1940. The family would like to give special thanks to Journey Care Hospice and the wonderful staff at the Bickford Assisted Living in Rockford. Survivors include wife, Helen Daniels, Durand, IL; daughters, Nancy (James) Miller, Deming, NM and Susan (Mark) Horstmeier, Davis, IL; grandchildren, Ryan (Kelly) Thiel, El Paso, TX, Michael Horstmeier and Cari Kettleson, both of Davis, IL; four great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Wirfs, Rockford, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth Ulrich. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 602 W Main Street, Durand, IL. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 5. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, IL. A memorial will be established.
