LoVonne Christen Obituary (1922 - 2012)

LaVonne Christen, 89, Pecatonica, Illinois died at 12:57 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2012 in Freeport Rehab and Health Center after a lengthy illness. Born August 25, 1922 in Shannon, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel and Vernie (Janssen) Buss. Married Fredrick “Fritz” Christen in Davis, Illinois on October 1, 1944. She was employed as a supervisor by Micro Switch for many years. She was the first female bus driver in Pecatonica. LaVonne enjoyed making quilts, crafts and rugs and tending to her garden. Survivors include one granddaughter, Deanna Nyman; one grandson Bradley Nyman; three great grandchildren, Jayna Nyman, Samantha Nyman and Rebecca Nyman, all of Durand, Illinois; sisters Florence (Marvin) Ruthe, and Betty Hielmen and brother Kenny Buss all of Freeport, IL. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with Pastor Amy Poust, Pecatonica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
