Judith M. Stender Obituary (1937 - 2018)

Judith M. Stender, 81, Lake Summerset, IL died at 6:35 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born February 8, 1937 in Long Island, NY, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore and Florence (Rissman) Gatto. She married John A. Stender in Chicago, IL on July 26, 1957. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Durand, IL, Art Club, Bocci Ball and Quilting Club all at Lake Summerset. Survivors include her husband John “Jack” Stender; son Paul (Irma) Stender; daughters Joanne (Timothy) Powell, Carol (Greg) Camerino and Kathryn (Al) Cada; grandchildren Joseph, Bridget, Arthur, John, Dulsea, Emma, Angela, Noah, Michael, Nicholas, Holly, Dominic, Grace and Jillian; brothers Steve (Jean) Gatto and John (Ruth) Gatto and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Cody. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2018 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 602 W Main Street, Durand, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, IL. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2018 with a scripture service to be held at 6:30 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Monday prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to cancer research.
