Irvin R. Cuthbertson Obituary (1927 - 2017)

Irvin R. Cuthbertson, 90, of Billings, MT and formerly from Pecatonica, IL, died at 5:20 a.m., Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Wesley Willows Health Center in Rockford, IL Born April 19, 1927 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Samuel and Alice (Flessner) Cuthbertson. Attended Pecatonica High School and completed his GED after serving in the US Navy during World War II. He married the former Shirley I. Rettig in Pecatonica, IL on July 23, 1949. She died in February of 2003. He then married Esther Frahm in Billings, MT in June 2005. He started working at JI Case in Rockford as a test technician, then worked for Kiser in Byron and then Atwood, retiring in 1992. Member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church, A W Rawson Masonic Lodge AF & AM #145 in Pecatonica, IL, Valley of Freeport Scottish Rite and Rockford Tebala Shrine. He was a former member of the Pecatonica School Board in the early 1960’s. He participated in the Montana Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Survivors include his wife Esther Cuthbertson, Billings, MT; son Neil (Janet) Cuthbertson, Roscoe, IL; daughters Sharon (Rick) Coursey, Rockford, IL, Karen Cuthbertson, Wilmington, IL and Susan (Steve) Harting, Davis, IL; one step daughter; five grandchildren Brianne (Chris) Carr, Gabriel Smith, Jarrod (Maranda) Cuthbertson, Cole and Garrett Harting and one step granddaughter; eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Shirley, grandchildren Diane Cuthbertson, Tiffany Harting and Courtney Gilson and four brothers. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 3, 2017 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL with Pastor Katie Voigt officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home- Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 2. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m., Wednesday.
