Georgia C. Gray Obituary (1942 - 2012)

Georgia C. Gray, 69, Davis, Illinois died at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Medina Manor Nursing Center. Born April 1, 1942 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Pearl Try. She graduated from West High School, Class of 1960. She married Thomas Gray in Rockford, Illinois on September 10, 1965. She was employed as a school bus driver for Dakota School District. She was a member of Davis Calvary United Methodist Church and a member of United Methodist Women, Pecatonica. She was active with Global Ministries and went on two mission trips to the Philippines. Georgia was an avid bowler. She was a member of the Rockford Bowling Hall of Fame and attended several national bowling tournaments and conventions. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Gray, Davis; daughters Sandy (Joel) Kleckler, Rockton, and Kathy (Mark) Burch, Florida; son Tom (Jamie) Gray, Iowa; grandchildren Craig, Sarah, Keith, Karleen, James and Brody; brother Carl (Betty) Try, Rockford and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and son Steven Gray. Memorial ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 in Calvary United Methodist Church, 511 E Snyder Street, Davis, Illinois with Pastor James Ketzel officiating. Georgia graciously donated her body to science. Cremation rites will be accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois assisted the family.
