Fred D. West Obituary (1929 - 2013)

Fred D. West, 83, of Shirland died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in his home. Born November 25, 1929 in Leachville, AK to Mr. and Mrs. Davis and Ethel (Taylor) West. Married the former Wandle O. Smith in Paragould, AK on August 19, 1949. Fred farmed his whole life; after retiring from Greenlee he became a full time happy farmer. Fred enjoyed fishing and farming, and loved his farm animals. He is survived by his daughter, Cathy (Richard) Mueller of Belvidere; son, Jerry (Rhonda) West of Rockford; daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Campbell of Roscoe, Susan (Ron) Downs of Rockton, and Sheila (William) Larson of Madison, WI; grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah Mueller, Charles and Natalie West, Kimberly (Jason) West, Craig (Krissi) Campbell, Brandi (Chad) Smith, Jim, Joshua (Ashley), and Kayla Downs, Eric Larson, Ashley (Brad) Johnson; great grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Logan, Nathan, Kendyl, Scarlet, Jaxon, one great granddaughter on the way, Preston, Liam; brother, Floyd West; sisters, Lillie Mae Hill, and Betty Massey. He is preceded by his parents; wife, Wandle; and four sisters. A special thank you to the nurses at Heartland Hospice. Private funeral ceremonies will be held. Burial in Shirland Township Cemetery.
