Everett Lester Book Obituary (1939 - 2015)

Everett Lester Book, 76, of Pecatonica, Illinois, formerly of Leaf River, Illinois, passed away at 9:56 am, Monday, October 26, 2015 in Stephenson Nursing Center. Born April 14, 1939 at home in Oregon, Illinois, the son of Clarence and Jessie (Martin) Book. Graduated from Leaf River High School, Class of 1959. He married Beverly VanRaalte on September 15, 1962 in Orangeville, Illinois at the United Methodist Church by Rev. Sheldon Gerarden. Lived in Loves Park for three years after their marriage, then they moved to Pecatonica, Illinois where they have lived since 1966. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was on various committees and served as head usher for several years. He was a life-long Farm Bureau member. Everett was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He volunteered with the Pecatonica Sports Association for 11years and coached baseball for three years. He worked at Barber Coleman for 14 years and retired from Dean Foods of Pecatonica after 27 years. He loved his flowers, gardening and lawn work, and spent hours caring for them. Everett enjoyed being outdoors, traveling and had a great love for dancing and country music. Survivors include his wife: Beverly; son Rick (Lisa Newman) Book; granddaughter Alexandra; grandson Dylan; sisters Dorothy Butt of Belvidere, Illinois, Helen Myers and Marjorie Genandt of Forreston, Illinois, Delores Davis of Rockford, Illinois, Mildred Samans of Orland, California; brothers Harold Book of Byron, Illinois, Glen Book of Leaf River, Illinois and David Book of Pecatonica, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and his Pomeranian, Teddy Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Randall Gene Book on March 8, 1990; brother Albert Book and sister Doris Book. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2015 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1301 Jackson Street Pecatonica, Illinois with Reverend Terry Theiss officiating. Final resting place will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport, Illinois. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, Illinois from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, October 29.
