Ellen M. Olomon, 86, Rockford, Illinois died at 6:56 p.m., Sunday, August 7, 2011 in Neighbors Nursing Home, Byron, Illinois. Born June 22, 1925 in Manchester Township, Boone County, Illinois, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtin and Mildred (Shepardson) Relph. Married Ray E. Olomon in Belvidere, Illinois on July 5, 1957. She was employed by Meri-J Western Store in Beloit for many years. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Roscoe, Illinois and the Afternoon Woman’s Circle at the Church. She belonged to ladies card clubs and was secretary of the local horse clubs. She graduated from Capron High School, Class of 1943. Survivors include husband Ray Olomon, Rockford, Illinois; daughters Cathy (Patrick) Henderson, Roscoe, Illinois and Laura (David) Price, Rockton, Illinois; grandchildren Brad (Wendy) Johnson, Stephanie (Bill) Britton, Adam (Cathy) Henderson, Valerie (Matt) Bauer, Nathan Price and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Roger Johnson, granddaughter Libby, two brothers Joe and Ernest, one sister in infancy and one step-brother, Bobby. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Reverend Lisa Abb, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Township Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
