Edward H. Johnson Obituary (1916 - 2014)

Edward H. Johnson, 98, formerly of Rockton, Illinois (35 years) and Westchester, Illinois (26 years) passed away at Rosewood Care Center of Rockford on October 21, 2014. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 30, 1916 the son of Edwin and Anna Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Anna, his brother Gale and the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Madeline (Rossi). He is survived by his son Ronald and wife Leslie of Naperville, Illinois, granddaughter Christine and husband Juan Galarza of Naperville, Illinois, grandson Neil Johnson and wife Jennifer and great grandson Jagger of Oswego, Illinois and many nieces and nephews. Ed retired from Gear Specialties, Inc in Chicago as Chief Engineer after 39 years of service. My father was a friend to all he knew or met and was admired by all who knew him. He was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed by all. His own words follow: Burn what is left of me and scatter the ashes to the winds or scatter them at Acacia Park Masonic Cemetery at the grave where my parents, brother and my wife are buried. If you must bury something let it be my faults, my weaknesses, and all of my prejudices against my fellow men. Give my sins to the devil and my soul to God. If you by chance want to remember me, do it with a kind deed or word to someone who needs you. If you do what I ask I will live forever. Cremation rites to be accorded.
