Edward “Ed” James Meyer, 58, Rockton, Illinois, died at 4:10 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2009 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Born September 17, 1950 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Grant E. and Ruth E. (Jensen) Meyer. Together with life partner, Sandra Pipitone for over 30 years. Employed as a lathe operator for over 40 years. Past member of Blackhawk Bicycling and Ski Club. Graduated from West High School in Rockford, Illinois. Survivors include; life partner, Sandra Pipitone, Rockton, Illinois; father, Grant Meyer, Rockford, Illinois; brothers, Jim (Jane) Meyer, Tucson, Arizona and Tom (Tish) Meyer, Roscoe, Illinois; sister, Frances (Kerry) Schaible, Cherry Valley, Illinois; Nick (Leigh) Pipitone, Buford, Georgia, Katrina Pipitone, Loves Park, Illinois; Jay Pipitone, Valdosa, Georgia, Mellissa (Steve) Tallacksen, Machesney Park, Illinois; grandchildren, Amnesty, Kayla, Nico, Sofia, Brody and Drew; great grandchild, Alyssa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by mother, Ruth E. (Jensen) Meyer. Memorial ceremonies will be held at 10:30 Saturday, August 22, 2009 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Brenda Byrne, Spiritual Counselor, Northern Illinois Hospice, Rockford, Illinois officiating. Burial in Stillman Valley Cemetery, Stillman Valley, Illinois. Cremation Rites to be Accorded. Memorials have been established.
