Clyde Albert Gunz Obituary (1934 - 2013)

Clyde Albert Gunz, 79, of Durand, Illinois, died at 6:20 p.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 17, 1934 in North Freedom, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Clara (Vertein) Gunz. Lived 42 years in Durand. Married the former Neva Wallace in Durand on May 11, 1956. Employed in graphic arts as a supplier from 1961-1996. Co-owned Foto Incorporated and worked at R Graphics until retirement in 1996. A veteran of U.S. Army, serving from 1956- 1958. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Durand where he served on the church board; Craftsmen Club of America, serving as an officer; Lake Summerset Square Dance Club, where he attended club dances as well as at the state and national levels. Clyde enjoyed reading, traveling with friends Bob and Barb, spending time with friends, family, and grandchildren, and farming and working the fields after his retirement. Graduate of Beloit Memorial High School, Class of 1952. Survivors include wife, Neva Gunz, Durand; daughters, Susan (Robert) Kinney and Karen (Larry) Hutchison, both of Durand; grandchildren, Bradley Kinney, Pecatonica, Jonathan (Brenda) Kinney, Shorewood, Jeffrey (Heather) Kinney, Davis, Emily (Brent) Howard, Appleton, Wisconsin and Lucas (Jennifer) Hutchison, Pecatonica; great grandchildren, Hailey and Tucker Kinney; brother, Earl (Raelene) Gunz, Janesville, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Sterling. Memorial ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 15585 Durand Road, Durand, with Pastor Pat Esker, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Arrangements by McCorkle Funeral Home – Durand Chapel, 101 Main Street Durand. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Diabetic Association, Trinity Lutheran Church, or to the family.
