Chong Ok (Han) Curtis Obituary (1949 - 2011)

Chong Ok (Han) Curtis, 62, of South Beloit died August 22, 2011 peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 9, 1949 in Changso-kun Kyonggi- do, Korea to Han Sun Ok and Lee Jum Sun. Lived for 40 years in the state line area coming here from South Korea. She became a proud United States Citizen on May 13, 1977. Married John Curtis in 1971. She was a member of New Hope Community Church, loved fishing, the Chicago Bears and Bulls, playing cards and games, helping others, and most importantly time with family and serving her church. She is survived by her husband John of South Beloit, Illinois; son, Jim (Melissa) Curtis of Roscoe, Illinois; daughter, Jackie (Brian) Graceffa of Roscoe, Illinois; grandchildren, Matthew, Abby, Hannah, and Lainy; brothers, Han Tae Song, Han Tae Seek, Han Tae Ho all of Seoul, South Korea; sisters, Chong Su Salazar of Augusta, Georgia, Han Chong Nim,Han Chong Nam and Han Chong Suk, all of Seoul, South Korea; brothers-in-law, William Curtis of Rockton and Thomas Curtis of Saugus, California. She was preceded in death by her parents. A special thank you to Beloit Regional Hospice for the compassionate and tender care given to Han and her family. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in New Hope Community Church, 8401 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, Illinois. Private burial in Pinnacle Hill Cemetery, Roscoe, Illinois. Cremation rites to be accorded. Visitation will be held at the McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
