Catherine J. Whealy, 60, Durand, Illinois died at 12:38 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Kindred Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born October 22, 1954 in Berwyn, Illinois, the daughter of Mary Alice (Beavan) and Donald Carson. Graduated from Proviso West High School. Married Roger L. Whealy on February 20, 1982. She taught three years of basic electronics at Great Lakes Naval Base, was a security guard at Lake Summerset and a cashier at Phillips 66 in Durand, Illinois. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed bingo, crafting, scrapbooking, crocheting, shopping, bowling and was a good party planner. She enjoyed watching NCIS-Criminal Minds and America’s Got Talent. Her life’s passion focused on serving her family and close friends with an infectious unconditional love. Survivors include her husband, Roger L. Whealy, Freeport, Illinois; daughter, Jennifer (John) Caswell, Lake Summerset, Illinois; son, Daniel Whealy, Sumner, Iowa; two grandchildren, Katie and Kyle Filipowicz; two brothers, four sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Roger, brother Donald and nephew T.J. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2015 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 15585 Durand Road, Durand, Illinois with Pastor Pat Esker officiating. Burial will be in South Rock Run Lutheran Cemetery. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m, Monday, August 31.
