Alexander Peter Gustof Obituary (1922 - 2010)

Alex P. Gustof, 88, Rockton, Illinois died at 3:15 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010 at home. Born July 24, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex and Mary (Beckshy) Gustof. Lived in Rockton, Illinois coming here from Rockford, Illinois. Married to the former Donna Henderson in Rockford, Illinois on May 10, 1945. Employed as a beverage distributor by Hamm’s Beer for 31 years. Veteran of WWII serving in the US Army as a medical tech for a light tank battalion. Graduated from West High School in Rockford, Illinois as the first graduating class in 1941. Al did many things in a happy retirement. He enjoyed traveling the western United States. Las Vegas was his favorite destination. Survivors include; daughter, Dawn Cummings, Rockton, Illinois; granddaughter, Amber (Phil) Reynolds, Rockford, Illinois; grandson, Brian Cummings, Waukesha, Wisconsin; granddaughter, Elizabeth Cummings, Waukesha, Wisconsin; great granddaughter, Angel (Brian), great granddaughter, Riley (Amber), and great grandson, Devon. He was predeceased by his wife, Donna in 1996 and son Gordy in 2002. Graveside ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 26, 2010 in Rockton Township Cemetery, 600 West Street, Rockton, Illinois. Cremation Rites to be Accorded.
