Obituary for Sally A. Marshall

Sally A. Marshall, 81, of Rockton, IL died at 2:35 a.m., Sunday, June 11, 2018 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 19, 1937 in Beloit Wisconsin, attended Hononegah High School class of 1955. A graduate of Carthage College, Carthage, Illinois in 1959 with a Bachelors Degree. Sally worked as a Medical Technologist for Swedish American Hospital for many years prior to joining OSF St. Anthony and retiring in 2007

Sally loved her family, her music and Jesus. Her service to others and her dedication to her faith defined her throughout her entire life. An accomplished musician she played the flute, piccolo, piano, banjo, ukulele, recorder, and was always ready to try a new instrument to create music for the enjoyment of all. Sally played in several local/community bands including; Rock Valley College Old Towne Band and Rockford Christian Band amongst others. She frequently could be seen at a number of local churches creating music on Sunday morning worship services.

A lifelong resident of Winnebago County between Rockton and Rockford, IL, she touched many lives through her service to her career and her music. She will be missed my many of the people who helped her through her journey of life from birth to death.

Predeceased by her parents James and Dorothy Sprightly. Survivors include Husband Bruce Marshall; Sons Ian and Matthew (Susan) Marshall; Grandchildren Sara and Alex Marshall; Sisters Cynthia Gregorich and Jo (Don) Durbin and her beloved cat Tillie.

Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018 in McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL with Reverend Lisa Ab of First Congregational Church in Roscoe, IL officiating. Cremation Rites to be Accorded. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 until time of service Sunday.

A memorial will be established.
