Raymond Lee Smith Obituary (1950 - 2016)

Raymond Lee Smith, 65, Rockton, IL died at 4:55 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1950 in Rockford, IL the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kooney and Donna (Wink) Smith. Raymond married the former Mary S. Bigelow in Rockton, IL on August 7, 1982. He was employed as a final assembler by Taylor Freezer for 35 years, retiring in November 2011. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Germany and Africa. Raymond enjoyed camping in Ft. Atkinson, WI. Survivors include wife, Mary Smith, Rockton, IL; daughters, Megan Nunez, Rockton, IL and Tabitha Smith, Beloit, WI; son, Benjamin Smith, Rockton, IL; grandchildren, Maya Nunez and Jamiah Williams; brother, Tim (Lisa) Smith, South Beloit, IL; sister, Gloria Wing, Missouri; brother, Calvin Smith, Iowa; brother, Allen Smith, Pecatonica, IL; sister, Lois (Chris) Anderson, Merriman, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers. Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 in McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL, with Pastor Dan Herman of Old Stone Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home from 4:30 p.m. until time of service Thursday. Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial will be established.
