Obituary for Marshall E. Warren

Marshall Emerson Warren, 88, of Rockton, IL; formerly of Bartonville IL, passed away at 3:00a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2017.

Born July 18, 1928 in Mason City, IL to Guy and Mallie (Dudley) Warren. He married Betty Jean Gallaher on July 19, 1958. He was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. He worked in the Wire Mill Pipe Shop at Keystone in Bartonville, retiring in 1990 after 40 years. He was a longtime member of Woodland Baptist Church in Peoria. Marshall was very active in the church, teaching Sunday school, serving as a trustee, and most recently, head of the ushers. He especially loved working with children and young people. Marshall’s nickname was, “The Bear”, for his build and for his cuddly personality. He was a very outgoing and friendly man who made friends easily. He enjoyed watching movies, listening to music, and reading science fiction and western novels, as well as books on World War II history.

Survivors include his wife Betty, son Mark (Brenda) Warren of Rockton; daughter Marla Warren of Rockford; sister Bernice Edwards of Anoka, MN; Grandchildren Matthew Warren of Rockford, Nicholas Warren of Roscoe, Caroline (Tim) Ahlberg of Roscoe, and Julianne Warren of Iowa City, IA; great-grandson Augustus; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Lyle Warren.
Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00, a.m., Friday, April 21, 2017 at Woodland Baptist Church 6915 N Allen Rd Peoria, IL with Pastor Joel Newton officiating. Visitation will be held at Woodland Baptist Church from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 20, 2017. Final resting place will be in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Peoria, IL McCorkle Funeral Home- Rockton Chapel 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, IL assisted the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
