Loraine Ann Froehlich Obituary (1940 - 2018)

Beloved mother, grandma, sister-in-heart, and friend. This creative mind and loving soul joined her husband in Heaven after illness took her unexpectedly on Friday, April 13, 2018. Lori was born in Rockford, IL to William “Bill” and Agnes Busker. She graduated from Rockford West High School, Class of 1958 and later attended the University of Illinois. She joined the Peace Corps along with R. Joseph “Joe” Froehlich, who would later become her husband of 48 years. Family and friends were especially important to Lori and she was surrounded by them even in her final hours. Those with her included her son Pieter (Bobbi) Froehlich; daughter Kerry (Jeff) Froehlich-Mueller; grandsons Hunter and Tanner Froehlich; Sister-in-Heart Linda France and best friends Nancy Hillman, Brenda McGaw and Judy Mueller. She will be truly missed! She worked for the Massachusetts Audubon Society, the Y.W.C.A., and the Rockford Health System. She was always involved in her community, but once she retired it became tantamount to who she was. She helped deliver meals to those unable to leave their homes, was an active member of P.E.O., and an active member of the United Methodist Church. She was always one of the first people to sign-up to help others in any way that she could. She was an extremely active person, never letting her feet grow roots, but especially in the arts including quilt clubs/guilds, symphony, and theatre. She also loved to travel, nationally and internationally. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Durand Methodist Church, 102 East Main Street, Durand, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Durand United Methodist Church.
