Obituary for Lawrence A. Stahl

Lawrence A. “Larry” Stahl, 88, formerly of Pecatonica IL, died 7:01 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Mercy Hospital.

Born August 7, 1928 in Winnebago IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Grace C. (Lameyer) Stahl. He attended Hosington Grade School. Graduated from Seward High School, Class of 1944. Larry worked at JI Case, then did carpentry work before going to Barber Coleman in 1952 which he retired from in 1990 after 38 years of service. After retirement, he worked for the Pecatonica Cemetery. Larry was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was married there on October 19, 1952 to Margaret L. Holeton. Larry loved to be with his family. He also loved horseshoes, pitching several years and was President of Gem Suburban Horseshoe Club.

Survivors include wife Margaret Stahl; sons Terry (Charlene) and Ron Stahl; six grandchildren Joshua, Michelle, Ron, Tom, Sara and Jennifer; seven great grandchildren Kiana, Keilana, Alex, Madison, Eva, Brayden and Chelsea; several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Mary Jane Stahl. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, brothers Henry, Jerry and Lloyd and sisters Marie, Lucy and Margaret.

Memorial ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 12, 2017 at First Lutheran Church, 627 Taylor St, Pecatonica, IL with the Reverend Nord Swanstrom officiating. Final resting place will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL. Cremation rites will be Accorded. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. till time of ceremony on Monday.

A memorial will be established.
