Obituary for Kurt Joray Carlson

Kurt Joray Carlson, 54, of Rockton, IL passed away peacefully after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer with his loved ones at his side and the sweet sounds of Unchained Melody filling the room. His SUNRISE was April 25, 1963, his SUNSET was December 5, 2017.

Son of Judy K. Carlson and Charles Carlson, graduated from Belvidere High School Class of 1981. Kurt married Melissa Alfredson in Rockford, IL on July 25, 1998. He was employed as a design engineer with Andrews Products in Mount Prospect, IL for the past seven years.

Kurt is survived by his one true love Melissa Carlson; son Ronald (Kara) Messbarger; daughters Aryanna (Ben) Doty, Alissa Phetlamnao and Amber (Ryan) Clark; grandchildren Madison, Cammie, Payton, Rhylee, Bryer, Abigail, Laura, Evan, Savanh, Adaline and two more to join us soon; parents Judy K. Carlson and Charles (Shirley) Carlson; sisters Terri Roley and Andrea (Bill) Miller; brother Kraig (Melinda) Carlson along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother-in-law Leo, grandson Huntley Mattox, the grandchildren that were never met and his beloved dog “I-CAN”.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2017 in Forest Hills Evangelical Free Church, 5183 Pebble Creek Trail, Loves Park, IL with the Pastor Mitch Sayler officiating. McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL assisted the family.

A memorial will be established.
