Kathy A. Erickson Obituary (1955 - 2016)

Kathy A. Erickson, 61, of Pecatonica, IL died peacefully at 12:49 pm Thursday July 14, 2016 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with Lymphoma. She was born May 16, 1955 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard and Shirley (Shade) Pollen. Kathy graduated from Pecatonica High School class of 1973. She had a successful career as a quality inspector and team leader, initially at MicroSwitch in Freeport, IL and then later at Pacific Scientific/Danaher in Rockford, IL. Before falling ill she had most recently worked at Esterline/BVR in Rockford, IL for the past five years. Kathy had many interests and talents. She enjoyed home decorating, flower arranging and making crafts for her nieces and nephews. Kathy had a special place in heart for children and animals. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Thank you to the nursing staff on 4 West of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, who patiently and lovingly cared for Kathy. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Judi Coots and Becky Griffeth whose support given to Kathy and our family has been appreciated more than words can express. Survivors include: mother Shirley Herbig of Pecatonica, IL; sisters Patricia (James) Guffey of Rockford, IL, Connie (Edward) Long of Freeport, IL ; nieces Susan Wagner, Stephanie Wagner, Jessica Guffey; nephews Jeremy (Jennifer) Guffey and Jacob (Megan) Guffey; great nephews Jayden and Jayger Guffey; great nieces Kyah Wagner and Grace Guffey; many special cousins who spent time with Kathy during her illness. She is predeceased by her fahter. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 am Saturday July 23, 2016 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church 528 Washington St Pecatonica, IL with Pastor Katie Voigt officiating. Cremation Rites were accorded. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Countryman Chapel 529 Washington St. Pecatonica, IL from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday.
